Sad News Flash! Abakaliki Market Gets Burnt.

Otu Obiahu, AJM NEWS

One of the markets in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, known as Kpirikpiri Market on Sunday was gutted by fire.
It would be recalled that the state government had earlier and severally instructed the traders at Abakaliki township markets to relocate to the newly constructed Ochudo International Market latest by January 10, 2020 but later shifted to February 10, 2020, which most of the traders have found it difficult to comply with.
However, Afikpo Jokwa gathered that the efforts of the fire fighters who arrived the scene of the ugly incident could not help matters, as the only Truck they came with was not enough to put off the fire.
Goods and properties worth millions of naira were lost in the inferno.
The cause of the fire is yet unknown.
Photos show thick smoke going up the sky from the burning market and shops razed down.
